Making a teepee

We finally closed this week’s history subject (The Stone Age) with another fun activity, which is fabricating teepees. I know it is a little bit off the track perhaps, but Yael made a remark when we were doing our research on where prehistoric people lived, that some of them constructed tents from animal hides and sticks covered in moss. So I guess, building an American Indian teepee is somehow relatable. I just wanted to do it because they are super cute.

We built mini teepees, using paper, bamboo skewers and twine.

Cut an A4 paper into trapezium (save the remaining cut outs for decoration later).

Decorate. We drew motives and color them on top of a textured mat to achieve a richer look.

Make colar for decoration.

Go out to your yard and stick 4 to 5 bamboo skewers to form a circle on the ground, gather the top together and tie them up with twine.

Dress it with the trapezium shape you have colored and decorate with colar.

And, Voila!
