Homeschooling a kindergartener means that you need to be active in finding ways to make her explore the world, build her gross motoric skills as well as her fine motoric skills, and of course to form her good habits and good ethic in living amongst others. With Noa, we are still focusing in building her fine motoric skills, as needed.
She is also rather fidgety so we need to get her to sit still and persevere in finishing a task. Most of the time she wants me to sit with her and stay with her or she would then started acting up, “Mami, I’m tiiiiireeeeedddddd” or “Mami, this is toooo haaaaaard” or “Mami, I can’t do iiiiiiit”. Very trying, but she will eventually get there, especially when the task is made interesting.
Lately, we have been doing a lot of color by numbers activity. Luckily, Noa gets her coloring books sent by her grandparents and they are awesome. They vary from easy to complicated. The designs are catchy enough and Noa has no problem sitting down and finishing at least one page at a time. You can of course find them for free online. For example here http://www.kidspot.com.au/slideshow/Colour-by-numbers+79+Bowl-of-fruit-colour-by-numbers+1170.htm#anchor
You can give this activity for older children too of course, combined with a more sophisticated equation. For example: Math Addition Color By Numbers such as the ones you can find here http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/chinese-zodiac-animals-maths-facts-colouring

If you are looking to amuse yourself while your wee one is doing her color by numbers, why not get the adult version and do some yourself? I love coloring, it relaxes me and it is a good way to wind down (especially with a glass of wine).
